Frequently Asked Questions
Why should I choose STVconnect to sell my redundant machinery?
We have over 30 years experience selling equipment to the plastics industry. We are able to reach the parts our competitors don’t reach. STVconnect send around 5000 monthly targeted emails to our list of contacts built up since 1999. Our website is our window to the industry and we update it on a daily basis to ensure our stock list reflects what is actually available at any given time. On a typical month the website will attract 10,000 page views which gives STVconnect the widest possible audience to sell machinery to.
What is the difference between your sole and multi selling agreements?
STVconnect can act as ‘sole’ selling agents for equipment whereby STVconnect are the only company and/or individual instructed to find a buyer. Our ‘multi’ agreement allows a client to instruct STVconnect as well as to try and find a buyer through other means, often with a higher commission rate payable.
What is expiry date / what happens when it comes?
The expiry date is agreed prior to marketing the machines between STVconnect and the seller. Once the expiry date is reached, the commission rate will remain as agreed but the agreement now changes to our ‘multi’ service.
What do STVconnect charge to market my used machinery?
STVconnect don't charge anything to market your machinery, so there's no risk at all for you! Once your equipment has been sold to a buyer that we've introduced, this is when we will charge you. Our minimum commission is £500. For items under £2000, we suggest you visit our classifieds web site at
www.STVdirect.co.uk.
What equipment can be sold on STVconnect?
Unlike some of our competitors we're not a ‘Jack of all trades, master of none’. We are experts in plastic processing, so if your used equipment falls in to this category, then you have come to the right place.
How long does it take to sell equipment?
Our statistical boffins have advised that historically each item sold on STVconnect took an average of 35 days to sell from the first day it appeared on our web site.
How much is my machinery worth?
This can depend on numerous factors, condition being one of the most important! We suggest that one of our team visit your factory to provide an accurate valuation, this can be a valuation to purchase the machinery outright or to value the machinery to broker to an end user. Just get in touch via email or phone and let us know how we can help.
What warranty do I get from STVconnect?
It is very unusual for an end user to offer a warranty on a machine which is why we try to encourage all the sellers of machinery that we are brokering to keep them under power and in production. Whenever possible we recommend all clients to inspect their potential purchase first hand so they can assess the condition. For machinery purchased directly from our own stock, we do offer a guarantee that the machinery will be in full working order without faults or leaks when it arrives at your premises. If there is any ever doubt about a warranty or guarantee then just ask!
What are the payment terms?
STVconnect introduces machinery buyers to private sellers who usually sell equipment ‘as is, where is’ and expect funds to be cleared prior to allowing the machinery to be moved.
Does STVconnect sell ancillary equipment?
We broker used ancillary equipment above a value of £2000.00. If you own equipment below this value you should try
www.stvdirect.co.uk which is a used machinery listing website dedicated to low value items related to the plastics industry.
Can STVconnect provide invitation letters?
Unfortunately due to recent unsuccesful transactions we are unable to provide invitation letters without a deposit being made on the equipment. Upon inspection, if the equipment is not as specified the deposit can be returned with the acceptance of our seller. We are sure you appreciate the administrative time and communication that is involved with the various embassies.
Who is responsible for moving the equipment once sold?
STVconnect introduces machinery buyers to private sellers who usually sell equipment ‘as is, where is’ so the buyer is responsible for moving the machine.

Do the machines include ancillaries if shown in the picture?
Ancillaries are only included if this is stated that they are included.
Is VAT chargeable on an export sale?
As a rule of thumb, VAT is not charged for equipment that is invoiced to a non-UK company when it is proven that the equipment has left the country - a Bill of Lading will keep the VAT man happy. Like most government related issues there are numerous rules and regulations designed to be unwittingly broken so you had better read up by visiting

Can I come to your warehouse?
We welcome visitors to our warehouse by appointment only. However, please keep in mind that a large proportion of the machinery advertised on our website is being offered for sale directly by the owner from their premises. If there is something in particular that takes your fancy on our site then get in touch and we’ll let you know where the machine is and put you in contact with the owner if appropriate.
Can I view the machinery running?
We appreciate that buyers prefer to view used machinery in a running condition prior to making a commitment so it is usually possible, but not always. STVconnect do our utmost to state when it is not possible to see the equipment under power.
What is the service history of the machinery?
This would depend on the machine, most sellers can provide a decent amount of service history, generally far more than is available when buying from auction.
Who do I deal with when I want to buy something?
This would depend on the machine. If the machine is being offered for sale directly by a client through our brokerage service then we will most likely put you in contact directly with them. If the machine is in our stock then we will deal with all aspects of the sale.
Do you offer general advice?
We’re not tied to any manufacturer and are happy to offer un-biased advice and guidance to you, just so long as it's plastics related. For non-plastics advice why not try
www.wikipedia.com.
Do you provide installation and training?
Our expertise is as a machinery broker so we cannot commission or train you on the machinery ourselves. However, since 1999 we've met many excellent freelance engineers who will be delighted to help, so just ask!
Can you recommend a tool maker?
The best place to find a great toolmaker is at
www.gtma.co.uk, the UK’s leading trade association representing toolmaking.
Can you recommend a transport company?
